Madera County Vintners TrailWineTrail

Did you know that Madera county is one of the largest wine grape producers in the Nation? However, it’s not just about quantity, but it certainly is also about quality. The ever growing Madera Vintners Association boasts wonderfully crafted wines available for tasting throughout the county. The association also has seasonal events, usually around Valentine’s Day, late spring and just before the Holidays, called the Madera Wine Trail. Nearby California State University in Fresno boasts one of the best oenology departments in the nation, and has produced many of the best winemakers in the State and indeed in the world. Some of the local wineries have been here for a very long time and the valley produces a vast variety of wines, including desert wines, fortified wines, vintner blends and many varietals beyond the “usual suspects” such as cabernet, syrah, chardonnay, muscat ,merlot, viognier, etc.

The Madera Wine Trail wineries include Birdstone Winery, Chateau Lasgoity Winery, Ficklin Vineyards, Golden Valley, Mariposa Wine Company, Quady Winery, Oak Hollow Winery, Pacific Crest, San Joaquin Wine Company, and in the Sierra foothills, Idle Hour Winery, Vineyard 208 and Westbrook Wine Farm
